Scholarship Opportunities

Edit 1
The American Junior Simmental Association is dedicated to learning. Whether it is through the use of educational events at its regional and national classics or helping its membership find the best scholarship opportunities available. We are consistently looking for new scholarships to let our members know about. If you find one let us know, but for now feel free to look into the several Merit and Industry scholarships we have listed.

Scholarships

Established in 1981, by the ASA Board of Trustees, the Merit Award is designed to provide recognition to junior members who have made “significant contributions to their community, home, family, school and the Simmental or Simbrah breeds of cattle.” As college tuition continues to increase, the Foundation continues to support 15 AJSA members each year by giving over $14,000 in scholarships, 10 Silver Merit Awards and 5 Gold Merit Awards, to help them continue their collegiate educational endeavors. Read through the Merit Award Guidlines document to make sure you qualify for these prestigious awards. Judging is based on a combination of factors including leadership, scholarship, extra-curricular participation and direct involvement with the beef industry. All AJSA members over the age of 16 are welcomed to apply, applications are due June 1st of the current year. Click here to view this years recipients.

Industry Awards

The AJSA is dedicated to providing its members with every opportunity to succeed. In doing so we would like to make all members aware of the various industry awards offered to agriculturally minded youth all around the country. Below is a list of scholarships eligible to incoming and current college students. For a more in depth list of Ag scholarships read through the FFA scholarship guidebook. There you will find available scholarships sponsored by several agribusinesses for FFA members and non-members alike.
