Ring of Champions Rules and Qualifications
Events
- Animals will earn Ring of Champions points at only the National PTP Open Shows: American Royal, North American International Livestock Expo, Cattlemen's Congress, National Western Stock Show, Fort Worth Stock Show, and Dixie National Livestock Show.
- The official National PTP Open Show season spans approximately five months, beginning with American Royal and concluding with Dixie National Livestock Show in the following calendar year.
Qualifications
- Each animal must meet the breed registration requirements for the division in which it is shown.
- Exhibitors must be active adult or junior members in good standing with the American Simmental Association.
- Animals and their exhibitors must abide by the rules of the show(s) in which they participate.
- All ASA Ring of Champions award winners must be genotyped before awards are presented.
Award Divisions
- The top three Heifers and Bulls of the Year, plus ties if they exist, will be awarded in the following divisions:
- Purebred Simmental
- Percentage Simmental
- Simbrah
- Percentage Simbrah
- Fullblood Simmental - If fewer than three animals in a division earn points at multiple events, no winners will be recognized.
- If fewer than three shows recognize a breed division, that division will be excluded from the final results.

- Division Champions
-All division and reserve division champions shall receive at least as many points in class as any individual in their division. If necessary, points will be added to the total that a champion received in class to give this subtotal.
-For example: If a division champion comes from a class of three head and is awarded two points for winning its class but another class winner in the same division comes from a class of nine, the greater class points would also be received by the division champion - which, in this example, is four.
-Division and reserve division champions will be awarded points on the following basis:
Division Champion 5
Reserve Division Champion 3
- Grand and Reserve Grand Champions
-Grand and reserve grand champions will be awarded points on the following basis:
Grand Champion 10
Reserve Grand Champion 7
-If an animal earns points at more than four events, only the four highest scores will count towards the cumulative total.
